Polestar 2

Starting point

The Polestar 2 is a fully electric car with, according to the report at the time, 408 PS, 660 Nm and a weight of around 2.1 tonnes, which took a double win in the German Car of the Year awards in the Luxury and Medium SUV categories. Despite few kilometres, the paint already showed the first stone chips. The overall picture was not badly scratched, but the paint is one of the softer ones and showed pronounced orange peel. Iron fallout had also already accumulated. Since the paints on newer cars are less resistant and thinner than they used to be, a 200 µ paint protection film was the sensible recommendation.

Work

First the iron fallout was removed with our in-house iron fallout remover. The car then received the 200 µ paint protection film on the bumper, bonnet, wings, loading sill, door entries, roof and the black door trims. For a uniform finish, the ceramic coating then went onto film and paint. The plastic parts on the car were treated with the ceramic coating for plastics, which produces a satin-matt finish and comes with an integrated UV blocker.

Result

The particularly exposed areas of the Polestar 2 are now protected against stone chips, and the soft paint sits under film and coating. According to the report at the time, the difference on the plastic parts was clearly visible in a direct comparison of uncoated and coated.
