Effect
The coating sits on the prepared clear coat and changes its surface. Water beads off more easily, dirt can often be removed more gently, and on gloss paint a suitable coating emphasises depth and reflections. GYEON lists deep gloss, a lotus effect and UV protection for Q² Infinite.
Regular washing is still necessary, especially for bird droppings, insects and mineral deposits. Existing scratches or holograms do not disappear under the coating. That is why we check beforehand which cleaning and which paint correction make sense.

Product
Autoblitz Mayer is a trained and certified GYEON detailer. We use GYEON Q² Infinite, a coating based on silicon carbide which, according to the manufacturer, is resistant from pH 3 to 13. GYEON offers different base systems and complementary topcoats in the INFINITE series. The exact product designation and the layer structure are set out in the quotation.
“Ceramic” refers to a range of different coating systems. Terms such as SiO₂, SiC or “nano” on their own say nothing about protective performance or how products rank against each other. That requires verifiable information about the finished product and the intended substrate. Statements such as “every ceramic is SiC” or “more layers are always better” are no basis for a decision.
Workshop process
A ceramic coating is only as good as the paint beneath it. That is why every coating begins with assessment and preparation.
We discuss paint condition, repair history and your expectations and check whether there is enough paint material for a correction. Even a new car may need detailing.
Hand wash, removal of residues that would impair adhesion, and polishing only as far as necessary. The coating bonds only to a clean, residue-free surface.
The appropriate GYEON product is applied evenly to the prepared surface. Product and layer structure match what was agreed in the quotation.
We check the result and explain the specific curing and care periods for your product, including when the first wash is permitted.

Gloss measurement
Using a professional gloss meter for the automotive industry, we measured the gloss level of different paints and surfaces: weathered paint, polished panels, paint under film and new-car paint.
Gloss is measured in gloss units. A heavily weathered door measured 48 gloss units before the work and 93.7 after paint detailing, almost the value of the calibration tile.

Durability and care
GYEON states a service life of over 60 months or 100,000 km for Q² Infinite with one layer. This is a manufacturer's figure under defined conditions. Mileage, parking situation, cleaning products, washing method and contamination all affect the actual condition. A single service life figure cannot reflect these differences.
Manufacturer warranties apply to defined packages and conditions. The GYEON INFINITE programme is tied to registration and suitable care. We agree which variant is right for your vehicle before application. A multi-year warranty is not a promise of an unchanged, maintenance-free condition; what counts are the documents that apply to the product offered.
Immediately after application, the coating needs protection from moisture. The time of the first wash and the point at which cleaners may be used can differ. Follow the handover instructions for your specific product.
In everyday use: wash gently, dry carefully and remove critical residues promptly. If water repellency declines, we first check how clean the surface is. Reduced beading proves neither that the coating has been lost nor that it is intact. A maintenance refresh is a decision based on condition, not an automatic step.

GYEON Q² INFINITE is a system of base coat and top coat. The scope depends on paint type, use and budget: not better or worse, but the right coating for the application.
The base for maximum slickness and the deepest gloss in the GYEON range, built on fluorinated polysilazanes. A single layer replaces the multi-layer build-up of other systems; GYEON quotes a service life of 60 months. TopCoat Type 2 enhances water beading on request.
The base with the highest resistance to weathering: a single layer with pronounced water repellency and colour depth, comparable in performance to Mohs+. It is easy to wipe off even on large panels. TopCoat Type 1 completes the build-up on request.
Both options are reserved for GYEON Certified Detailers. We agree scope, service life and price on the vehicle; the coating is applied and registered according to the manufacturer's specifications.
Surfaces
Each surface receives a ceramic coating specifically matched to it. Paint, plastic, film, glass, wheels and matt surfaces differ in structure, stress and the desired finish, so the protection system is selected accordingly.

This preserves gloss, colour and surface character while each surface is protected in the best possible way. The right product choice is particularly important on matt paint and film, because gloss level and texture cannot be corrected afterwards.

Decision guide
Ceramic changes the surface: water repellency, ease of care and finish. Paint protection film absorbs mechanical stress: an elastic carrier as an additional layer on the paint. On heavily used vehicles we combine both, for example on the Porsche 992 Turbo S, the Ferrari 812 Superfast or the AMG GT R from our archive.
A coating approved for film can complement the film surface. It replaces neither the film carrier nor its care requirements.
Questions and answers
Less dirt adhesion, better water repellency and easier cleaning. On prepared gloss paint the coating emphasises depth and reflections. It complements regular care but does not replace it.
Ceramic protects against dirt, chemicals and the marks of daily washing. Stone chips and deep scratches are absorbed by elastic paint protection film, because it takes up the energy. For the front, bonnet and sills we therefore combine both: film on the exposed areas, ceramic on top and on the rest of the paint.
9H comes from the pencil hardness test to ASTM D3363: the hardest pencil that no longer scratches the coating gives the value. It describes the hardness of the layer under test conditions and is not part of the Mohs scale for minerals. In everyday use, what matters is that the layer resists washing and environmental influences; against stone chips, it is the paint protection film that does the work.
GYEON states over 60 months or 100,000 km for Q² Infinite with one layer. The actual durability depends on the substrate, the application, the driving profile and the state of care. Product and care plan are set out in the quotation.
The warranty is given by GYEON. Under the GYEON conditions, the INFINITE warranty is registered online within 30 days of collection, and maintenance is carried out by a GYEON Certified Detailer every 24 months or 25,000 km. Exclusions include, among others, repaired parts and commercially used vehicles. A long term does not mean that the surface stays unchanged without care. The written conditions of your package are decisive; your statutory rights remain unaffected.
That depends on the paint condition; cleaning and removing residues that impair adhesion are always necessary. Polishing depends on visible defects, and even a new car may need detailing. A coating does not remove existing scratches.
Dry or blade off water on cool paint and do not let it dry on hot paint: that way mineral residues do not form. If spots do appear, we remove them specifically with the right product without attacking the coating.
That depends on the product used and the application conditions. Protection from moisture immediately after application and the point at which cleaners may be used are not necessarily the same moment. You receive the specific times at handover.
Yes, if film and coating are approved for it. There are products specifically matched to film. The coating complements the film surface but replaces neither the film carrier nor its care requirements.
No, each material has its own special ceramic coating. Only then does each surface achieve the service life and effect stated by the manufacturer.
