Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing

The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing is one of the best-known and most sought-after classics in automotive history. Around 1,400 were built between 1954 and 1957; its upward-swinging doors earned it the nickname “Gullwing”. Originally conceived as a racing car, with numerous racing victories, it later came to market as a road version. This customer’s car showed surface scratches, dull patches in the paint and general soiling inside and out. The chrome elements and the wheels also needed special attention. The customer’s wish: the paint should be easier to clean in future.

Work

First the paint defects were dealt with: surface scratches and dull patches were removed, as was the soiling inside and out. The chrome elements and the wheels received their own cleaning and care. To finish, we applied a ceramic paint coating. It preserves the paint and ensures that the surface is easier to clean in future.

Result

Scratches, dull patches and soiling are gone, chrome and wheels are cared for. Thanks to the ceramic coating the paint is preserved and can be cleaned with less effort, as the customer wished. We documented the project in a video.
