AMG GT Black Series

Starting point

The AMG GT Black Series: 730 PS from a 4 litre V8 biturbo. The flat-plane crankshaft allows higher revs, although the engine runs a little rougher and quieter as a result. At full angle, the rear wing generates 400 kilograms of downforce at 250 km/h. The brief: wrap the entire car in paint protection film (PPF), then coat it. According to our research, it was the first GT Black Series to be completely wrapped in paint protection film.

Work

The complete AMG was wrapped in paint protection film, 300 µm thick and in places 200 µm. Even the small black trim strips and the lower part of the carbon diffuser are wrapped. Because we work closely with our film manufacturer, the pre-cut film patterns were produced in house. According to the manufacturer’s figures in the report at the time, the self-healing film can stay on the paint for up to ten years without yellowing. We then coated the film with our Ceramic Carbon coating.

Result

The ceramic coating gives the car an extreme depth of gloss. The film becomes easier to clean and shows a pronounced beading effect. In the video we show the condition in which the car was delivered, along with further details.
