Starting point
The Porsche GT3 is driven regularly on race tracks and had a number of stone chips at the front. The front luggage compartment lid and bumper were therefore repainted, with the colour matched so precisely that no difference to the repainted components is visible. Solid black is very prone to scratches and forgives no mistakes in detailing. For use on the track, a thinner film was not an option.
Work
After a curing time of six weeks for the new paint, the complete car was detailed, beginning with iron fallout treatment and paint correction. Then came the 300 µ paint protection film on the bumper, front luggage compartment lid, roof, the wings and the rear wings up to the A-pillar including the sills, laid there in one piece. We take care to protect as many edges as possible with the film, which is more demanding with the thicker 300 µ film but feasible. According to the manufacturer’s information in the report at the time, the film is self-healing, does not yellow and carried a ten-year material warranty. Paint and film then received the ceramic coating.
Result
The GT3 is equipped for the race track: corrected solid black paint, thick paint protection film on all exposed areas and a ceramic coating on paint and film. On some pictures from the report at the time, specks of dust can be seen, which immediately catch the eye on solid black.
