Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Convertible

Starting point

A Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Convertible came to Schwaikheim after factory collection in Zuffenhausen. The paint was flawless, without scratches or stone chips, and that is exactly how it was to stay. Many new-car buyers drive straight from delivery to the workshop to take advantage of the combination of LZ 730 brilliance sealant and paint protection film against stone chips.

Work

First the paint was sealed with the LZ 730 brilliance sealant, which is applied before wrapping. Then the stone chip protection film was laid: the front luggage compartment lid completely, with the film wrapped around the panel edge so that no film edge remains; the front bumper completely, for which the plastic lip was removed so that the film could be tucked into the fold even on the very narrow painted strip; the wings left and right completely; rear quarter stone guards left and right; door edge protection. Where wrapping into the fold is not possible, a gap of 2 to 3 millimetres is left to the next body section, because otherwise the film lifts and comes away.

Result

According to the report at the time, the film is hardly visible even from a metre away, and thanks to the deep gloss of the LZ 730 the wrapped and unwrapped parts can barely be told apart by eye. The door edge protection prevents the door edges from chipping when knocked against walls and pillars. For caring for the film the workshop recommends a spray gloss, and for gently loosening insects an insect and dirt remover.
