Starting point
The Mercedes AMG GLS, model year 2016, is the flagship of the Mercedes SUV range and is regarded as the S-Class among off-roaders; seven people travel in comfort. The AMG version brings modified aprons, running boards, wheel arch extensions and 21-inch AMG wheels; for this model year there were also 22-inch wheels “AMG multi-spoke black, high-sheen finish”, exclusively with the AMG Sport Package Exterior. The running boards were already showing the first signs of iron fallout, a problem we see on SUVs with running boards across all brands. In the AMG version the boot mat is undivided from the factory, so all rear seats had to be folded down every time to access the load compartment.
Work
We removed the iron fallout from the running boards with an iron fallout remover and then preserved the surfaces with a spray gloss. The paint was sealed with the LZ730 brilliance sealant. We then wrapped the bonnet and front bumper in paint protection film. The care set was handed over with the film, because film needs care too. Inside, we divided the boot mat to measure and finished the edges with binding.
Result
The running boards are free of iron fallout, the paint is sealed and the wrapped front has additional protection. A spray gloss keeps the film smooth and glossy. The divided boot mat means only one seat needs to be folded while the mat continues to protect the load floor.
