Jaguar F-Type V8 S Convertible

The Jaguar F-Type V8 S is available exclusively as a convertible and was described in the report at the time as a new model for the 2013 model year with a list price from 100,000 euros. Stone chips have an easy time on the large front end; touched-in stone chips or colour differences from a repaint would be no solution. Since original condition often plays a bigger role when buying or selling than mileage and mechanicals, a stone chip protection film was to preserve the unblemished state.

Work

First the complete paint was sealed with the LZ 730 brilliance sealant, so that the paint under the film gains depth of gloss and the rest of the paint stays protected. At the customer’s request we wrapped the complete front bumper including the gloss black painted area in the radiator grille, the lower side lips on the left and right, and the sill blades on both sides, there extending well into the underbody area. The many curves, air intakes and the large oval chrome grille were the challenge. The film was laid right up to the edge of the deep-drawn chrome ring and up to the honeycomb structure; only the sensors were cut out. Because the shapes of the bumper do not allow wrapping in one piece, relief cuts and separate sections were needed. The number plate holder, riveted on at the factory, had already caused scratches in the gloss black painted area. After consulting the customer it was carefully drilled out so that the film sits behind the holder rather than around it.

Result

The film cannot be seen from a metre away; the front, side lips and sills are protected. Thanks to the LZ 730, the paint beneath shows a rich depth of gloss. The number plate holder can be refitted with new rivets or galvanised screws.
