Jaguar F-Type V8 S Convertible

Starting point

With the F-Type V8 S Convertible, Jaguar created a sports car in 2013 that enters the ring with a list price from 100,000 euros and a sound that can hold its own against the Porsche GT3 RS 4.0, Ferrari 430 or Maserati Quattroporte. The large front end gives stone chips an easy time, and neither touched-in spots nor the colour differences of a repaint are an attractive solution. Because original condition often counts for more at a later sale than mileage and mechanicals, the customer opted for a stone chip protection film.

Work

First the complete paint was sealed with the LZ 730 brilliance sealant, so that the paint under the film gains depth of gloss and the rest of the paint is protected. At the customer’s request we wrapped the complete front bumper including the gloss black painted area in the radiator grille, the lower side lips on the right and left, and the sill blades on both sides, with the film pulled well towards the underbody. The many curves, air intakes and the large oval chrome grille required the film to be laid right up to the edge of the deep-drawn chrome ring. Since the number plate holder is riveted on at the factory and had already caused scratches in the gloss black area, we carefully drilled out the rivets after consulting the customer and laid the film behind the holder; it is then refitted with new rivets or galvanised screws. The film runs continuously up to the honeycomb grille; only the sensors were cut out.

Result

Our benchmark is that a paint protection film cannot be seen from a metre away. That applies here too: the front, side lips and sills of the F-Type are invisibly protected, and the original paint is preserved.
