Starting point
The Aston Martin V8 Vantage is Henrik Fisker’s last design for Aston Martin and was developed as a rival to the Lamborghini Gallardo, Ferrari F430 and Porsche 911; the first model generation was built between 2005 and 2008. At the factory, 50 hours go into the paint alone. This example, however, told a different story: surface scratches, holograms and, most seriously, paint edges polished through on the door edge. During the vehicle consultation we found further edges that had been sanded into. Damage like this happens when paintwork falls into the wrong hands.
Work
Paint enhancement was only possible with extreme care, especially as Aston Martin paints are very hard. The decision was to preserve the original paint: we touched up the areas polished through on the edges with airbrush technique and clear coat. Since the damage was on the edge and not on the flat surface, it could be concealed well. The rest of the paint was carefully polished back up and sealed with the LZ 730 brilliance sealant. Then the bonnet, bumper, both wings, both sills, a large stone guard section, the rear bumper and both door mirrors received stone chip protection film. The LZ 730 supports the depth of gloss under the film, so that individual areas can be wrapped without the rest of the paint differing in gloss. The film surface was preserved with a spray gloss.
Result
No holograms, no dull patches, no surface scratches: the Vantage once again shows paint as in the brochure. The stone chip protection film is barely visible from a metre away. According to the manufacturer’s figures in the report at the time, the film could stay on the paint for up to five years; the better its gloss is maintained, the less noticeable it remains. With us, a wrap is preceded by detailed advice, with a sample application if required; we discuss the products used today and their conditions with you in person.
