Starting point
Two Audi R8 V10 came to the workshop as a pair for paint protection film. The paint of the front end was to be protected from damage with a clear protective film.
Work
The paint protection films for both R8 were pre-cut on the film plotter, so no cutting had to be done on the paint. Because it matters to us to protect as many edges as possible, the pre-cut film patterns were additionally reworked on the PC. The paint protection film was applied to the bonnet, bumper, wings, door mirrors and the black struts on the left and right. We used the clear LLumar paint protection film. According to the manufacturer’s figures in the report at the time, it can stay on the paint for up to ten years, is self-healing, does not yellow and was listed with a ten year material warranty. It is considered car wash safe and temperature resistant, can be removed almost without residue and is recognised by insurers; the car remains in its original condition. On request, various film thicknesses are available for even more protection; the thicker film also remains highly transparent, and scratches heal under the influence of heat.
Result
Both Audi R8 V10 now have paint protection film on the bonnet, bumper, wings, door mirrors and struts. Thanks to the reworked patterns, the edges are largely covered as well, and the film remains highly transparent.
