Starting point
This Pontiac Firebird Trans Am GTA, built in 1987 with a 5.7 TPI engine, is unique in the whole of Germany as K.I.T.T. (Knight Industries Two Thousand) from the series Knight Rider with David Hasselhoff. The years have left their marks on the paint: heavy holograms and dull paint characterised the condition the car had endured at its owner’s side. Most comparable K.I.T.T. cars were given up in this state and completely repainted. Here the existing paint was to be preserved and corrected.
Work
The car came to us in Schwaikheim for detailing. That this treatment would demand a great deal of time and skill was obvious from the start; expectations of our team were correspondingly high. The aim was to eliminate holograms and dull paint without repainting.
Result
The after pictures show the Trans Am with mirror-like paint again. The success of the detailing is visible, and a full repaint was not necessary. Nothing now stands in the way of the television star’s comeback.
