Ford Capri 3

Starting point

This Ford Capri 3 with a 2 litre racing engine and 180 PS came to us with a clear task: the paint was to be freed of dents and paint nibs, and the car was then to be completely protected with paint protection film. For a car of this age there are no ready-made pre-cut film patterns, which made the wrap a special challenge.

Work

First we removed the dents and paint nibs. Paint correction demands a lot of experience and a fine touch: one wrong move with the polisher and the paint is polished through or the clear coat permanently softened. The complete Capri was then wrapped in paint protection film. We used LLumar Valor, which according to the manufacturer’s figures in the report at the time is 200 µm thick, self-healing and ceramic-like coated, without yellowing or loss of gloss, recognised by insurers and able to stay on the paint for up to twelve years. We enter the roll number of the film in the warranty card so that its origin can be traced with the manufacturer. Since no pre-cut patterns existed, we worked freely from the roll and in part created our own patterns by hand.

Result

The Capri is fully wrapped and shows clean, protected paint in the sun. The pictures were taken without Photoshop or filters. There is more of the car on our YouTube channel; we have also published the car’s data sheet. The film properties mentioned reflect the state of the report at the time.
