Starting point
The BMW M2C came to the workshop with fine scratches. The paint is comparatively hard, so the paint correction was correspondingly demanding. Since a paint protection film can stay on the car for up to ten years according to the manufacturer, the paint under the film must be flawless. One peculiarity of all BMW F models: the door rubber seal chafes in the door shuts and causes serious paint damage there.
Work
The paint correction took two people three days. This was followed by a second iron fallout treatment, because fine iron fallout can still sit in the paint pores even after polishing, as it did here. Grinding the paint down heavily to remove iron fallout completely is out of the question for us; gentle paint correction comes first. The M2C then received paint protection film on the bumper, wings, bonnet, the complete side panel up to the A-pillar and in the door shuts. The gloss test on the wrapped and coated wing next to the unwrapped but coated door showed no perceptible difference in gloss or colour. Finally a ceramic coating went onto the paint, the paint protection film and the new exhaust system.
Result
The BMW M2C went into the 2021 season with flawlessly corrected paint, stone chip protection at the front and sides and protected door shuts. Paint, paint protection film and the new exhaust system are ceramic coated.
