No vehicle: building windows

Starting point

Drawing on experience with vehicle wrapping, solar control film for building windows was added as a further service. The report at the time shows the first result of this work. The variant used offers privacy as well as sun protection, thanks to a one-way mirror effect.

Work

One day before installation, the windows were measured and the films cut on the film plotter, so that no knife work was needed at the window. First the windows were thoroughly cleaned, then it was checked that all the pieces fitted. As with paint protection film, solar control film is applied wet; once the film sits in the right place, the liquid is worked out with a squeegee. Finally, all edges were sealed with a special tape so that water cannot lift the film from the glass.

Result

The windows are fitted with solar control and privacy film. According to the report at the time, the film lowers the room temperature by reflecting heat, protects against glare at the workplace and provides 99 % UV protection against the fading of furniture, artworks and textiles; the warranty at the time was stated as ten years for vertical glazing and five years for sloped glazing. Solar control films come in many variants with different colours and different performance levels. A film catalogue with samples and all the information was available for making the choice.
